SCHED for the conference

We hope you are getting excited about the 2011 VRA+ARLIS/NA 2nd Joint Conference in Minneapolis, particularly now that Registration is up and running. And that you all have come to love SCHED* as much as Jessica and I do (seriously, we want t-shirts!).

Many of you are familiar with the dynamic conference scheduling software SCHED* from either the 2009 ARLIS/NA conference in Indiana or the 2010 VRA conference in Atlanta.

Please remember that SCHED* is DYNAMIC! and as we get closer to the conference we will be updating our conference SCHED* with program changes, additional information, greater detail, venues, links, and more.

SCHED* includes many features to help you create and share your personal conference schedule and we invite you to explore these in full.

* Create a user name and password or sign in via your Twitter, Facebook or LinkedIn account.
* Once you sign in, you have the option to mark sessions, events and meetings of interest to you, see who else is interested, and share these choices with other conference attendees.
* You will note an option on the page called “My Schedule”. Click directly on “My Schedule” and you get a view of “Jane/John Doe’s” Schedule with only the items you’ve selected in your personal schedule!
* On the right-hand side of your schedule you’ll see several icons with options for exporting and sharing your personal schedule: calendar choices, including iCal, Google Calendar and Microsoft Outlook; an option to print your schedule with or without extended descriptions; versions of SCHED* for your mobile device; and an opportunity to “tweet” your SCHED* to Twitter or “like” it on facebook.

Do let us know if any of this is unclear to you, or if you encounter difficulties with personalizing your SCHED* and taking advantage of the features. We are happy to help.

Again, a reminder that all your 2011 Joint Conference organizers are hard at work finalizing myriad details to make your conference experience everything it can be. Please refer to our conference program SCHED* often for all up-to-the-moment information.

See you all in Minneapolis!

    Time Zone Help!

I imported my Sched into Google Calendar. However, I’m finding that it is showing the events starting an hour later (I am on EST, and the conference is on CST). I am not able to edit the events in that Google Calendar, otherwise I would just move them an hour earlier.

    Can you offer any advice?
